Negotiations are on-going towards the release of Dr Idongesit Udom, a family member has told Hinteractive.
Dr Udom, who is the proprietor of Sure Foundation Polytechnic, was abducted at about 10:00am on his way for worship at Qua Iboe church, Idung Neke, close to his country home in Ukanafun local government area of Akwa Ibom State.
In a telephone interview with Hinteractive, the family member, who pleaded anonymity, hinted that negotiation is ongoing but added that the abductors’ demand is “crazy”. He did not mention the particular demand, however.
Our source source told us that as difficult as the situation is, the family is doing everything possible to secure the release of Dr Udom, admitting that all relevant agencies including the government of Akwa Ibom State are concerned towards the release of Dr Udom.
On whether the kidnapping has a political undertone, our source told us that it is not likely, as the victim is not a politician. Declining several questions from our correspondent on security grounds, our respondent solicited the prayers and support of members of the public over the unfortunate circumstance.
