The CEO of Herald Media and Presenter of E&B show, Abasiama Etukakpan has insisted that Mr Uwemedimo Umanah who is a Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on media had threatened to kill him. Mr Etukakpan spoke to Hinteractive Nigeria on Thursday night on the matter, insisting that such threat was not to be taken lightly.
On why he was threatened, Mr Etukakpan told Hinteractive that it wasn’t unconnected to the ambition of former Commissioner of Information, Mr Aniekan Umana to represent Abak/Etim Ekpo /Ika in the House of Representatives by 2019. Speaking further, Mr Etukakpan said that supporting Mr Umanah can not be a must and as such no threat by Mr Uwemedimo Umanah, brother to Mr Aniekan Umanah and Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel should be warned as no threat will sway him into supporting his brother.
Hinteractive findings reveal that the Umanas are angry with Mr Etukakpan over a post made by him on his facebook wall that accused Mr Aniekan Umanah’s wife of extorting five thousand naira each from several vulnerable women in Abak just to enlist them as beneficiaries of the recently concluded Constituency briefing and empowerment of the Senate Minority leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio. According to the said post, Mr Aniekan Umanah was bent on exploiting the people of Akwa Ibom State after his failed years as Commissioner of Information in Akwa Ibom State. Mr Etukakpan has however denied putting up such a post on facebook, adding that Mr Aniekan Umanah is his elder brother and friend.
While commenting on the alleged threat on the life of the young CEO, Mr Uwemedimo Umanah, brother to Aniekan Umanah and special assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on media said that he has no intention of joining what he calls Mr Etukakpan’s campaign of calumny and image slandering. Mr Uwemedimo Umanah said the above while commenting on a facebook post made by Mr Etukakpan decrying Mr Uwemedimo Umanah ‘s threat to his life. In the post, Mr Etukakpan said that Mr Uwemedimo Umanah had called him to say that he would ensure that he was dealt with for attacking his brother. The Herald Media CEO has said that he will not fail to file a complaint to the necessary security agencies.
