EXPOSED: How Macaire Sponsored Blackmail Against Works’ Commissioner

Feelers from Ikono Local Government indicates  that the attack on Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ephraim Inyangeyen, alleging he is working to impose the current Transition Committee Chairman of Ikono local government, Mr Itoro Columba on the area in the upcoming November Local government elections, is sponsored by a self acclaimed political leader of Ikono, Mr Emmanuel Ukpong a. k. a. Macaire.

The news item published on two local newspapers purport that Mr Inyangeye is on collision course with  Ikono local government area.

The truth behind the scandal, as this reporter learnt, is that the self-made political leader of Ikono, Macaire is the one sponsoring the blackmail against the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen.

Macaire recently held a meeting at his country home to strategize and fine-tune his antics on the coming elections, according to a very close source who was in attendance. The source confided in this reporter on the condition that his identity is concealed, that the self styled  Ikono political leader is making frantic moves to clear his way so as to sail through in his quest to impose his ‘stooge’, a certain Medical Doctor, as Ikono Council chairman, against the wishes of the generality of Ikono people.

The source explained that Macaire is prepared to blackmail and silence any elder of Ikono extraction who may attempt to stop him from having his way, but wondered why he chose Ephraim Inyangeyen who is not from Ikono as his first target. The source also said that Macaire has put machinery on ground to make sure that Ikono elders shut up, since they are adamant in refusing his antics.

“Macaire is training his boys and he is placing them on monthly payment. He has vowed to gun down anyone who attempts to stand as a stumbling block or hamper his smooth sail. He is using all avenues to achieve his aims, that is why he is sponsoring media attack on the person of Ephraim Inyangeyen with heavy amount running into hundreds of thousands of naira spent on some media hirelings,” the source said.

Meanwhile, efforts to speak with Macaire did not yield any result, as he refused to pick several calls forwarded to his cell phone or respond to text messages seeking clarification on the matter.
