A Colombian woman swallowed $7000 after engaging in a bitter fight with her husband. This, according to her, she did to deny her husband access to the money.
In an interview with the local RCN television channel, the woman said she had been saving the money for a vacation with her husband before swallowing it.
Luck ran out on the 30-year-old woman, as doctors at the University Hospital of Santander in Colombia were able to remove the money through surgery, after she swallowed them in rolls of $100 bills.
Director of Surgery at the University Hospital of Santander, Juan Paulo Serrano said they were able to surgically extract 57 $100 bills from the woman’s stomach and intestines, while other rolls would be passed through the colon.
He said the rolls were not wrapped or packaged, which suggests they were not part of any illegal transport and simply swallowed in an ‘act of desperation’.
